One of the biggest name in cosmetic industry now is Elizabeth Arden. About a hundred perfumes licenses and manufactures own by Elizabeth Arden. Elizabeth Arden also distributing twice that amount of fragrances to retailers.

Perfumes and fragrances are marketed under Elizabeth Arden company using a different brand names, such as Elizabeth Arden, 5th Avenue, Red Door, and White Diamonds. Beside perfumes and fragrances, the company produces and sells skin care products and cologne.

Florence Nightingale Arden, the real name of Elizabeth Arden, the founder, was born in Ontario, Canada.

Before she settling into the place that she would stay for almost her life, she worked at many different types of jobs.  At the age of twenty four she moved to New York City and worked at the pharmaceuticals company but just for a short time.  And after that, she worked for a “beauty culturist”,  named Eleanor Adair.

The foundation of the company was not far behind. Because she had a flair for business, experimentation, and innovation – as well as a real drive for success.

Elizabeth Arden went to France, in 1912, to learn about the beauty techniques used by a lot of  beauty salons in Paris.  She brought back more than new knowledge when she came back in America.

A collection of tinted powders and rouges that she had created in Paris, also she carried back to America. In that year, only for stage performers, make up was usually used.  And that was the first major innovations that the company introduce to the cosmetics market.

A “fluffy” face cream, was the next major innovation that Arden created, collaborated with A. Fabian Swanson, a chemist.

A “fluffy” face cream, the product that they created was named Venetian Cream Amoretta.  The face cream, Venetian Cream Amoretta, and the accompanying skin lotion, which became a big success. The collaboration of Arden and A. Fabian Swanson led to a long and successful partnership

The Arden company philosophy finally affected the cosmetic s industry. And it was a sign of the beginning of a scientific approach to the cosmetics industry

Under the careful direction of its founder, the Arden company continued to grow.

In 1966, Elizabeth Arden died. And the name Elizabeth Arden is synonymous with quality and style, up to this  day.
